3 reasons why I hate the new Yahoo Messenger!

The most recent version of Yahoo! Messenger is Yahoo! Messenger 9. And with this new version release, it would be very hard to not compare it to an older version of it: Yahoo! Here are some things that suck in this version.

1.    The avatars of each contact in Yahoo! Messenger 9 are just too big! It is beneficial in the sense that one can easily see each contact’s avatar right away. But on a negative note, if there are a lot of contacts on a person’s list, it will be very difficult to keep scrolling down just to find a certain contact!

2.    In older versions, when one is in the middle of chatting or messaging, when you try to press the up arrow key the last thing entered into the screen will appear again (and it goes on every time that key is pressed). But in this recent version, there seems to be something wrong every time that key is pressed! Instead of displaying the last message entered, it jumps to other messages.

3.    In older versions, when one contact is in Idle status, it is very easy to see how log that contact has been idle for. But in the newer version, the only thing that will be seen is that the person is in the Idle status. Although this point may not be such a big deal to most people, it may be important for some.

On a brighter note, Yahoo! Messenger 9 does look pretty good in the sense that there are customizable themes and improved avatars. More importantly, when one sends files through it, it is automatically scanned by Norton Anti-Virus!

But, it still sucks. I guess I’ll have to go back to other IM Clients.

5 of the meanest yet hottest villains

Everyone would know that villains are the antagonists in movies. And since villains are characterized as such, they would almost always look bad, ugly or scary. Examples of these could be seen in a lot of movies, like Joker (looks both ugly and scary) in The Dark Knight and Lord Voldemort (looks deformed, ugly and scary) in the Harry Potter movies. But has anyone noticed that whenever there are female villains in movies, they would almost always look deceivingly good (compared to the male ones, at least). Here are a few of the female villains that looked too good to be villains in the movies they showed in.

1. Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada
Miranda Priestly was played by actress Meryl Streep. She may be old, but she really looked good in the role she played. She wore the best clothes, and really knew how to carry herself. Although she was the villain in this movie, she really looked elegant.

2. Catwoman in Batman Returns
Michelle Pfieffer played Catwoman in Batman Returns. Although she had to wear a costume in most of the scenes, she still looked hot as her leather fit costume emphasized her sexy figure.

3. The White Witch in Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe
The White Witch in this movie was played by Tilda Swinton. Unlike before, witches are portrayed as ugly, deformed-looking and old women who always wear long black dresses(Remember Snow White and the how many dwarves?). But lately, witches are being portrayed as really good looking women. And this movie is just one of them. She even looked even prettier than the main characters. She always seemed to look fresh and beautiful even if she was going to battle.

4. The Witch in Stardust
The witch in the movie Stardust was played by Michelle Pfieffer. This is another movie wherein the evil witch in the movie looked beautiful. In fact, she looked so beautiful that she was able to deceive people. She definitely did not look like one who could do something bad, except when she started turning *ugh* ugly.

5. Madison Lee in Charlie’s Angels Full Throttle
This villain was played by Demi Moore. Everyone who saw this movie would definitely agree that aside from performing well as a villain, she also looked hot in her role with the way she moved, spoke and also with the clothes she wore.

Lately, it has been pretty clear that the look of the villains nowadays has changed their image a lot from ugly looking to one of the sexiest looking in the film. They are setting a new standard as this can be seen in the more modern movies and gaming with villains being done, especially when compared to the movies done in the past. Maybe villains are being portrayed this way because the movie becomes more realistic. Obviously, we don’t see the villains in our everyday lives as physically ugly that they look monstrous. They look like ordinary people, or sometimes really beautiful or good looking that one of their ‘talents’ is to deceive the people around them. Come to think of it, it would be easier for anyone to manipulate people when they look good.
